IS IT POSSIBLE BLOGGER & LIVE WRITER COULD BE TEAMING UP TO SOLVE A BIG PROBLEM FOR WE BLOGGER FOLKS??

Accepting the very real possibility Windows Live Writer could now be gone forever I have spent some more time re-acquainting myself with the Blogger format because basically that is all there is left for an impatiently simple mind like mine.   I have no interest in burning out my precious few remaining brain cells trying to figure out Word Press so Blogger it is until something better comes along.   I do have a question for knowledgeable & regular Blogger users though.  It seems every time I compose a new post I have to pick my font size , font color, & background color.  Is there anyway I can save these preferred settings so when I open up a new draft all my sizes & colors are ready to go & I don't have to always start from scratch??   I am finding a few things about Blogger I do like better than Live Writer though & the biggy is with the speed my posts publish now.  When I hit the publish button my post is instantly published.  Live Writer often took a long time to get itself on-line taking anywhere from a couple minutes to a couple hours depending on our internet speed & location.    This particular paragraph I typed in Blogger.
This paragraph & the next one I am typing in a Hotmail email format & will copy & paste it into Blogger just to see how that works out.
I'm certainly grasping at straws for something to write about tonight.  Aside from Pheebs & I slipping up to Goderich this morning for a few things there sure hasn't been much going on here.  I did take her for a little spin around Bayfield after supper Thursday night looking for some photos but I came home photoless.  Not that there wasn't any photos of course, just that I didn't seem to have myself in photo mode.

Ok, this paragraph is being typed in my Windows Live Writer program.  I will copy & paste it into Blogger & see what happens.  Live Writer still works for composing a text post but photos cannot be copied & pasted.  Photos still have to be inserted in the Blogger program itself & that’s where the sticky point is with me.  In Live Writer it takes about 2 seconds to load photos but with the Blogger program photos can take up to a minute each to load into the post.  Not so swell for we photo folks!!  Anyway I do hear through the Blogland grapevine that both Blogger & Live Writer people are teaming up to solve this issue.  Well I hope that’s true.  Always nice to see old competitors & adversaries team up for the common good of everybody's well being & piece of mind.  Now why can't the rest of this troubled world do that...................................
WE SURE DO HAVE SOME INTERSTING CRITTERS IN OUR FRONT YARD
GROANER’S CORNER:((  A tourist on his way to Tuscaloosa came to a fork in the road and stopped. There was no sign indicating which route went where.  Spotting a boy by the road, he yelled out, "Hey, kid, does it matter which road I take to Tuscaloosa?"  "Not to me it don't," replied the boy.

  1. I never switched away from using blogger because writing in Livewriter seemed a hassel to me. Yes, I do choose my font size every time. It is not difficult, and since Craig sometimes includes his thoughts in one of my posts it is very easy for us to switch fonts and sizes. Personally I prefer a white background with black text because it suits me. Blogger doeshave problems from time to time as far as picture placement, but I have learned a few tricks to make it do what I want it to do.

  2. Also on our Mac using photoshop jpgs that are 1000 pixels on the larger side, it only takes a few seconds to load. I use the "save for web" feature. After they are placed I select size, L or XL and left, right or center. Very quick and rarely a hitch.

  3. You set all of your default fonts and font sizes and colors in your template..... I often change colors in the template on a whims notice..... Be sure to back up your existing template before modifying it so you can go back if you screw it all up....

  4. When viewing your own blog, click on the word design at the top of the screen next to sign out. That will take you to the template screen.... over on the top right you will see a gear with a button next to it to back up and restore... That will bring up a dialog box that offers to download your existing template.... Do this before messing with your colors... You should see a picture with the words live on blog on the main template screen with the work customize under it.... Click that.. The next screen has selections down the left side and the colors are under advanced.... You can choose lots of different colors and see them on the sample blog below... The color choices are endless if you use your mouse in the color blotch, or you can pick some of the ones offered.... When you get it like you like it, click Apply to blog on the first screen and that's it...

  5. Oh, the fonts are down under the color selections on the advanced screen... You can pick a font and a size... I think I have mine on 133% for a little bigger letters, but you might like bigger yet... After you do this it will stay like that till you change it again..... Oh, and you can modify it on the fly in the editor to override the defaults, but you don't have to do it every time.

  8. Don't know if I am more P.O.ed about our motorhome problems (still not getting engine to charge the house batteries as we drive) -OR- the Live Writer issue. I am with you Al, so many more, easier things one can do in Live Writer than with Bloggers Basic Blaw Blaw Blaw Writer! ie: so many ways to feature your pictures; easy to have tables so you can picture on one side, writing on the other, more text options, linking is easier, list goes on and on and on.... 10. Not a blogger but as a reader I know I cannot go to bed until I have read your blog. On the IPad, the coloured type against the black background is easily read and your photographs have never looked better.

  11. That's strange Al--when I started posting in Blogger my blog looks the same--same background and font color and size--I don't have to chose all that stuff every time??? I too love the quick posting when using Blogger. My photos also load instantaneously and I'm wondering if that is because I re-size mine and you don't???

  12. The thought of giving you any advice about setting up a blog makes me laugh :-) I will say that my photos load quickly in Blogger, but then I have nothing to compare that speed to. I love the little mushrooms :-))))

  13. I never switched to Live Writer either (too lazy), and don't have any problems with Blogger. The font, etc., remains the same -- I don't have to do anything when I log in. Pictures load instantly, unless I'm out in the boonies somewhere, but they'd be slow to load regardless then. Sometimes I resize pics, often not, it doesn't seem to matter. As others have said, no worries here. So ... wassup?
