OH RATS!! THAT LIKELY MEANS WE WILL LOSE OUR POWER AGAIN:((

OUR GOLDFINCHES ARE WEARING THEIR DULLER WINTER COATS
Up on the early side this morning we were all dressed and ready to go to.......nowhere.  We had a plumber coming at 8:30 to fix the water faucet in our shower.  It had been increasingly hard to turn and it was making an awful scrunching noise as if the rubber seal behind it was binding.  I was worried it could tear and we could have a major flood behind our wall somewhere.  The plumber arrived around 9 and twenty minutes later we had a brand new smoooooth working trouble free shower faucet:))

 YESIREEEE, THE PLUMBERS HERE
Pheebs and I cruised a few different country roads this morning keeping an eye out for any more corn spills.  We did find one that added a few more shovel fulls to my supply.  But Holy Smackers was it ever cold out there in the icy cold wind scooping the corn up.

THIS MORNING'S SKIES HAD CHARACTER TO THEM
I WAS ABLE TO SCOOP UP A FEW SHOVEL FULLS OF CORN HERE
A COMBINE TRANSFERS IT'S LOAD OF CORN TO A GRAIN WAGON
THE GRAIN WAGON SWINGS AROUND AND HEADS FOR A WAITING TRUCK ON THE ROAD

CORN IS TRANSERRED FROM THE GRAIN WAGON TO THE TRUCK'S DOUBLE TRAILER AND THEN TRANSPORTED TO A NEARBY COOP OR MAYBE TO THE GODERICH GRAIN TERMINAL
AN OUT-OF-FOCUS SHOT IN MY SIDEVIEW MIRROR OF THAT GRAIN WAGON TRANSFERRING CORN TO THE TRUCK'S TRAILER
THERE IS SOMETHING ODD ABOUT THIS PHOTO....CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS??  OH, AND DID YOU NOTICE THE CALF IN THE CLOUDS HEADING LEFT INTO A STIFF WIND
Facebook threw me a memory this morning dating back to this day 15 years ago.  We were in New Mexico and camped at the City Of Rocks State Park.  The title of my blog for this day back in 2008 was, Moody Skies At City Of Rocks  These were our early RVing days when the original Bayfield Bunch with Max, Checkers, and Cora (Motomouse) were all together.  Readers may have noticed that anytime they click on any of our 'Album Links' from our RVing days the albums don't work and that is my fault.  I carelessly didn't pay attention to notices from Google years ago and when Google made some major changes I lost all our photo albums.  However, this morning I created a new photo album for the few days we camped at City Of Rocks years ago.  City Of Rocks New Mexico photo album.

WE HAD A NICE CAMPSITE FOR A FEW DAYS
According to our local weather station, we are on the cusp of a major snowstorm beginning tonight and not letting up until Tuesday night.  A storm warning has been issued.  Oh rats!! That means we will likely lose our power.  We usually do:((  Whether we make it to Kelly's dental appointment in Exeter Tuesday morning or not is anybody's guess.  We'll see how things are and if we can see the end of our driveway tomorrow.

THIS IS WHAT OUR FRONT YARD WAS BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE ABOUT 4 O'CLOCK THIS AFTERNOON AND WITH THE HIGH GUSTING WINDS IT WAS JUST AS FREEZING COLD OUT THERE AS IT LOOKS
Ellen's Groove:))  A short video of Ellen and her Dad Hovak playing another duet together.  It's easy to see where Ellen gets her talent from in this clip.  Ellen and Hovak

 NO, IT'S NOT A CANARY, IT'S A GOLDFINCH
I AM THINKING THIS MIGHT BE FEMALE HAIRY WOODPECKER
 GOLDFINCHES

Al's Music Box:)) Without A Song The 1951 recording was issued as a 78 rpm single in the United States by RCA Victor Records.  It was also included in a 1957 album, Dream Along With Me.  Frank Sinatra recorded versions of the song with what appears to be the original lyrics, including the line, "A darkie's born, but he's no good no how, without a song." In subsequent recordings, Sinatra didn't use the term "darkie", and later recorded versions included the altered text "a man is born, but he's no good no how, without a song."The original was played in error on a BBC Radio program on the 9th April 2020, prompting an apology on the same program four days later.  (This is my favorite Frank Sinatra song)
GROANER'S CORNER:((
This duck walks into a convenience store and asks the clerk, "Do you have any grapes?"  The clerk says no, and the duck leaves. The next day, the duck returns and asks, "Do you have any grapes?" The clerk again says no, and the duck leaves.  The day after that, the duck walks in the store again and asks "Do you have any grapes?" The clerk screams at the duck, "You've come in here the past two days and asked if we had any grapes. I told you no every time that we don't have any grapes!  I swear if you come back in here again, and ask for grapes, I'll nail your webbed feet to the floor!!" The duck left, and returned the next day. This time he asked, "Do you have any nails?"  The clerk replied, "No," and the duck said, "Good! Got any grapes?"

-----------------------------------

- I went to the pet shop and asked for 12 bees.  The clerk counted out 13 bees and handed them over.  “You’ve given me one too many” I said.  “That one is a freebie”

Q: What kind of music do planets listen to?
A: Neptunes!

- "Why does Grandma spray Windex all over her Medicare co-pay invoices?"  "She said she wants a clean bill of health."

SO, ARE YOU FELLAS PLANNING ON STAYING LONG??

  2. Here's hoping the winds aren't as big as predicted and you don't lose power. I cannot see the calf in the clouds. Usually I can do that sort of thing. Distressing. (Not enough to keep me awake.)

  3. How great that you keep the feeders full so that your fine feather friends can stock up before the storm. Lovely photos of your friends tonight.

  4. Some great shots of the goldfinches Al, and great to see your album from the "travel" days. Boy, that Hovak can really play - and we all know Ellen is a boss!
