I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING MAJOR ACCOMPLISHED

The first stop for Pheebs and I on our way to Goderich this morning was at Richard and Gayles house to see if they needed anything from town.  Richard just got home yesterday from spending 22 days in two of London's hospitals.  Only needing some coffee cream, Pheebs and I were soon our way.  McD's coffee to go, and down to the harbor for a few photos.  From there it was off to Walmart for the usual sundries.  Stopped at Richard and Gayles on the way back for a visit.  He sure is glad to be home because it was touch and go in the hospital when he was first admitted three weeks ago.  He's going to let me know if he feels strong enough for a coffee and muffins tour later in the week.  From there, it was straight home.  I didn't get anything major accomplished this afternoon with most of my time spent puttering around in the kitchen area.  Pheebs is still doing good:))

Al's Music Box:)) The Hustle
is a disco song by songwriter/writer/arranger Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony. It went to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles charts during the summer of 1975. It would eventually sell over one million copies. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance early in 1976 for songs recorded in 1975.
While in New York City to make an album, McCoy composed the song after his music partner, Charles Kipps, watched patrons do a dance known as "the Hustle" in the nightclub "Adam's Apple." The sessions were done at New York's Mediasound Studios with pianist McCoy, bassist Gordon Edwards, drummer Steve Gadd, keyboardist Richard Tee, guitarists Eric Gale and John Tropea, and orchestra leader Gene Orloff. Producer Hugo Peretti contracted multi-woodwind player Phil Bodner to play the piccolo lead melody.  On the week of May 16, 1975, "The Hustle" entered the Radio & Records Trend chart at no. 38 Trend chart at no. 38.  The following week, "The Hustle" entered the Radio & Records Pop/30 chart at no. 30.  "The Hustle" was the #1 song for the year 1975, after spending five weeks in the top spot on WABC's weekly charts.  According to producers Hugo & Luigi, who owned the Avco record label that originally released "The Hustle", McCoy met with them shortly before his death in 1979. He wanted to discuss ideas for a new, longer version of the song, in order to appease Avco's UK and German affiliates who were clamoring for a 12" disco single release. The new version, clocking in at just under six and a half minutes, was assembled posthumously as a remix, using parts of the original recording plus new parts, including drum, Syndrum, and a "little" Moog synthesizer. It was credited to Van McCoy alone or with an unnamed orchestra, mixed by "The Mix Masters", identity unknown.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband.  Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen.  "Careful," he said, "CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh my GOD!  You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful! CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them.  Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!"  The wife stared at him. "What in the world is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?"  The husband calmly replied, "I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving."

One evening I was in a bar talking to my friend.
"Last night, while I was out drinking, a burglar broke into my house.."  "Did he get anything?" asked my friend.  "Yes," I said.  "A broken jaw, six teeth knocked out, and a pair of broken ribs. My wife thought it was me coming home drunk!!

  1. Love the various Golden Retriever art today... my granddaughter got a female Golden last July (born in May). Such a cutie and what a great disposition. And I love the pertinent quotes today. We could sure use those here in the good old USA. Hope we survive!! --Annette

  2. So very nice that you and Richard live nearby and that you're able to check in on each other. Glad your friend is home from hospitals. Kelly is happily remembered when viewing those lovely photos.

  6. I am glad to hear Peebs is doing good and hanging in there. Sorry to hear the news you wrote about her a few days ago. I wonder myself on those days of not getting much done. I think motivation is the weather. I had one day of spring on Monday and got a lot done for the first time in months, besides shoveling snow.
