LAST WEEK'S HOSPITAL STAY HAS PUT ME WAY BEHIND

HOSTAS, TRILLIUMS, AND FERNS IN OUR YARD
After posting Saturday's post and feeling much better, Woodsy and I hopped into Subie and headed for the Woodland Drive-In for two ice cream cones.  We always get a soft ice cream cone called a 'Twist' which is a swirl of vanilla and chocolate, and would you believe, those cones are only $2:50 apiece.  From there, it was a cruise along Bayfield's Main Street and down to the beach area.  Back up into the quaint little village again, we took a slow drive around the picturesque tree-lined streets looking at all the nice homes, cottages, and landscaping.  With a solid cloud cover overhead, there was no sunset.

OUR POND PLANTS ARE DOING WELL
A LOT OF FERNS ARE COMING UP THIS SPRING
Thankfully, I woke up feeling even better this morning, and with a cloudy, cool day going on I decided to get some more clean-up done inside our metal shed.  Probably spent the best part of a couple of hours pitching things either into the garbage bin or the recycle bin.  Although a lot has been achieved, there is still a long way to go.  And, I've really gotta get going with the grass cutting and weed whacking.  Last week's hospital stay has put me way behind.  A sunny day tomorrow, so I'm hoping to make some yard maintenance progress.

Al's Music Box:))  There I've Said It Again by Bobby Vinton is a popular song written and published by Redd Evans and David Mann in 1941.  Bobby Vinton, backed by arranger/conductor Stan Applebaum, recorded and released "There! I've Said It Again" as a single in the fall of 1963.  In 1964, Vinton released the song on the album There! I've Said it Again.  Vinton's version topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart on January 4, 1964, and remained there for four weeks before being replaced by The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand", This was the last US-made number 1 hit before the British Invasion.  It was the first No. 1 song of 1964, and spent 13 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The  song also spent five weeks atop the Billboard Middle-Road Singles chart. It was Vinton's third number-one song on both charts, following "Roses Are Red" (My Love) and "Blue Velvet'. Vinton's version also reached No. 1 on the Cash Box Top 100. Vinton's version was ranked No. 12 on Cash Box's "Top 100 Chart Hits of 1964".

Groaner's Corner:(( A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded:  "Rome? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?"  "Continental?" exclaimed the hairdresser. "That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome?"  "We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's Tiber River called Teste."  "Don't go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks it's gonna be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump, the worst hotel in the city! The rooms are small, the service is surly, and they're overpriced. So, whatcha' doing when you get there?"  "We're going to go to see the Vatican and we hope to see the Pope."  "That's rich," laughed the hairdresser. "You and a million other people are trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."  A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome. "It was wonderful," explained the woman, "not only were we on time in one of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot. And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling job and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's suite at no extra charge!"  "Well," muttered the hairdresser, "that's all well and good, but I know you didn't get to see the  Pope." "Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand, I knelt down, and he spoke a few words to me."  "Oh, really! What did he say?"  "He said: 'Where did you get that really crappy hairdo?'"

  1. Funny you should mention ice cream. And is $2.50 ever cheap!!!! Hubs and I had a hankering for ice cream recently. Went to the Dairy Queen, and ordered two single chocolate-dipped soft ice cream cones. The total was just shy of ten dollars! Imagine that. Almost 5 bucks for a small cone! Highway robbery. The ferns in your yard are fabulous. After all that snow and rain, there's obviously a lot of moisture in the ground. Lovely pics again, especially Pheebs with the ranch dogs. Cuties. And a yellow ducky is a sentinel at the pond, haha. Don't work too hard, take it easy each day. Barb M.

  2. Loving all the gorgeous green in your yard. I would venture to say that all the antibiotics you have been on have kicked in and are doing their job. Take care.

  3. Aww... a ducky survived. Did any of the fish? Your yard is lovely and a refreshing view for you, I'm sure. Don't overdo it since you're feeling so peppy. Take care!

  4. Your Hostas are huge already! Mine are slower to start. I love the ferns too. I wonder if they'd grow up here in the rocky terrain?
