SO FRUSTRATING!!

FILE PHOTO OF THE COLLINGWOOD HARBOR 2022
A cool, cloudy start to the day, but by late morning the sun broke through and we had a big, bright sunny afternoon.  Feeling okay first thing this morning, I right away headed outside, got myself on the end of my lawn mower, and away I went.  Following that, I took a walk with my weed whacker, burned some garbage, and trimmed back some overgrown vines with my electric hedge trimmer.  By the end of the hour, I was totally worn out and had to come inside and sit down.  So frustrating!!  I just don't seem to be bouncing back this time.  The rest of the day simply slowed down to a slow grind, and I didn't have enough energy to do anything else.  So disappointing.  Tuesday morning, Lorraine and I head to Goderich with a number of planned stops..........

Al's Music Box:)) It's Just A Matter Of Time is a pop song written by Brook Benton, Clyde Otis, and Belford Hendricks The original recording by Benton topped the Billboard Hot R&B Sides chart in 1959 and peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 pop chart, the first in a string of hits for Benton that ran through 1970.  The song found a second life as a country song, with major hit recordings by three country music performers during the 1970s and 1980s, two of which hit No. 1.   Brook Benton, Belford Hendricks and Clyde Otis established themselves as a songwriting team in the late 1950s, penning hits for Nat King Cole ("Looking Back") and Clyde McPhatter ("A Lover's Question"). During one songwriting session, Benton expressed frustration that they were not hitting on any good ideas, to which Otis replied, "It's just a matter of time, Brook". Those words inspired them to write a love song from a point of view of a man who misses his love, but believes she will come back to him.  Benton and Otis placed the song on a demo tape for Cole, and he agreed to record it. However, Otis became an A&R manager at Mercury Records, and signed Benton to the label. Otis felt that "It's Just A Matter Of Time" would be an ideal single for Benton, and he asked Cole not to record the song so it could be Benton's first release on the label. Belford Hendricks, a classically trained composer, co-wrote and arranged the recording. Benton's version, in a style clearly influenced by Cole, was a quick success, rising to number three on the Billboard pop charts while topping the R&B chart for 9 weeks in the spring of 1959, the longest run atop the chart of any song that year. On April 12, during the song's chart run, Benton made his national television debut, singing the song on The Ed Sullivan Show While Benton had had one previous minor hit ("A Million Miles From Nowhere"), this success established him to the public, leading to a continuous string of hits through 1962, and occasional success thereafter.

Groaner's Corner:(( Arriving late for a political conference, the college student asks another student standing by the door, "How long has the candidate been talking now?"  "An hour and a half."  "And what is he talking about?"  "That I wouldn't know, he hasn't said."

The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research.

Two wrongs are only the beginning.

Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

Love may be blind, but marriage is a real eye-opener.

  1. Al, please slow down and stop trying so hard to do so much, so fast and just maybe, you won’t get so frustrated with things … dare I say you (and I) are not as young as we “think” we are and it’s about time we finally realize this statement for what it really is … the truth … we will not and simply cannot “bounce” back like we used to … know it’s a hard pill to swallow, but it is what it is - PERIOD !!!

THAT’S JUST LIFE … (and you know darn well that Kelly would be annoyed with you and is shaking her head - and not in a good way)

    What’s the big hurry anyway???

It will all still be needing done when you’re feeling a bit better (and then a wee bit at a time!!!)

If you don’t start behaving yourself you’re going to end up back in the hospital (or God forbid something worse)

Please do us, Lorraine and yourself a favour - stop being so pig-headed and listen

We REALLY care about you, you know - c’mon now and behave yourself

    Rant over 😡

    Great big hug,
    AnnieK xo

  3. I so get wanting to make myself be "normal" when my body isn't ready. Take the advice of your frog :-) Love Kelly's waterfront view in the motorhome - looks like you were on a ferry! Pheebs joy at visiting the donkeys is priceless. The entwined couple is special and I love the style and colors of the canoe.
